Nieu-Bethesda is a village in the Eastern Cape at the foot of the Sneeuberge, approximately 50 kilometres from Graaff Reinet. It was founded in 1875 as a church town, like many other Karoo villages, and attained municipal status in 1886. Join us for 3 stages stretching over 160km in the valley of Compassberg, the highest free standing mountain in South Africa. After a challenging first stage you will be welcomed by a few ice cold beers during the night stage at the Nieu-Bethesda brewery.

Itinerary:
22 April:
• Arrive in Nieu Bethesda, supper at the Tennis club
23 April:
• 6am Breakfast at Tennis Club
• 7am Stage 1 / 95km around Kompasberg
• 1pm Lunch at Tennis Club
• 6pm Stage 2 / 11km in and around Nieu Bethesda and Pienaarsig
• 8pm Supper at Tennis Club / Prize Giving
24 April:
• 6am Breakfast at Tennis Club
• Stage 3 / 50-60km TBC on neighbouring farms in the area
• 12pm Lunch at Tennis Club / Prize Giving
We wanted to do a race that focuses on a magical little town in the Karoo and give riders the opportunity to experience the amazing hospitality of the locals and breath taking landscape and game as they cycle around the tallest free standing mounting the country and through some of the most amazing game reserves in the area. And we believe we have a very nice mix of the above in the pot.
We also wanted to veer away from the sausage machine feel that so many races have developed lately where it is all about the money and very little attention is given to the actual experience, on and off the bike, so there is a limit to how many people can enter.
