Franschhoek in the Western Cape is famous among overseas tourists for world-class wine and mouth-watering cuisine in a setting so lush you would think it is made for royalty. There is also a very well-kept secret amongst the nobles of the land, and that is the Mont Rochelle Reserve. Set above the town the Reserve features mountain peaks so tough they will be sure to make you wish you were running on the Sea Point Promenade instead, once you get to the top, though, the views will quickly make you forget all the suffering as you look out across the Franschhoek valley. Flowing single track that seems to go on forever will suck you in and leave you counting the days till you can come back to this special part of the world.

The route tackles two of the most prominent peaks, namely Perdekop and DuToitsKop. The 22km route will give you about 1400m of vertical ascent and about the same in descent. Starting and finishing at the infamous, Mont Martre Guest Farm which is next door to Haute Cabriere, spectators and supporters will be treated to a royal welcome and are sure to enjoy the day as well with food, cooldrinks and beer available on site.
