EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Join us for the 10th annual Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge & Trail Run, sponsored by Boland SUPERSPAR. The trails will take you through the beautiful fruit farms and fynbos hidden away on top of the Piket-Bo-Berg Mountain. 

You can enjoy fantastic food and a vibrant atmosphere at the finish line – a Beer tent and shaded seating for all our spectators ensures riders and runners are warmly welcomed home. 

The following routes are available:

  • the 8km Trail Run Challenge:
    • The ideal route to explore our beautiful area.
  • the 18km Trail Run Challenge:
    • For the hard-core trail runner who enjoys exploring caves and technical running.

Run for a GREAT CAUSE! This event is organised by The Piket-Bo-Berg Residents Association, the local NPO. All the funds raised through the event are invested in skills development and education, creating a better future for all in our community.

We look forward to sharing our small-town hospitality with you, while you enjoy some of the best trails on offer.

WHAT TO CARRY:

Runners are encouraged to take enough energy bars/food to sustain you for your estimated time on the trails.

We will have water points along all the routes, but please bring at least two full water bottles along with you. 

Please bring antihistamines and any other suitable medication if you are allergic to bees or sensitive to pollen because the race takes place in the spring.

If you are allergic to any medication, kindly specify it on your entry.

CAMPING FUNDRAISER:

The Staweklip Primary School, located opposite the Race Venue, will be hosting a campsite on the Friday night before the event as a fundraising initiative.

Support this great cause and book your spot!

Book one or multiple campsites for R150 per site which include:

  • A 5m x 5m Campsite
  • Ablution facilities
  • Braai drums and wood
  • Basic communal kitchen

The school will also be offering dinner and breakfast which you can order when you enter.

Dinner Menu:

  • 2 x Rooster brood (cheese & jam), 1x lamb chop, boerewors, 1x mielie, 1x potato with a garlic sauce and 1x salad (optional). Coffee & Tea included for R100.

Breakfast Menu:

  • Toasted Ham & Cheese: R20
  • Oats: R15
  • Muffins: R15
  • Coffee & Tea: R15

ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS:

The 8km & 18 Trail Run start off with a challenging climb up the mountain along “The Hermitage” to “Never-ending Story”. At the end of “Never-ending Story” the two routes split.   The 8km runners cross the valley, run to “Judges Head”, through “Judges Chambers” and back down to the race finish.


The 18km runners continue from the split to “Red Rock Rabbit Run”, “Muddy Waters” and then follow the jeep track to the Buchu dam.  Running through the buchu fields to “Castle Rock”, then onto “Judges Head”, “Judges Chambers” and back down to the race finish.


Expect a treat of pristine fynbos, beautiful rock formations and stunning vistas on your run!
