MTB Adventures
The Houw Hoek Tour is a non-competitive 2-day MTB stage event. The objective is to give MTB’s and newcomers to multi-stage events (NOT NEWCOMERS TO MTB) the opportunity to enjoy a weekend of scenic, fun and non-competitive riding. However, make sure that you are fit as each of the two stages is approximately 50 km, mostly on gravel roads (including jeep and single tracks) and that you can and love riding single tracks.
Start venue: Houw Hoek Hotel, Elgin. Although on line bookings indicate that the hotel is fully booked (it is blocked booked for the event), there are still rooms available. Book directly at 028 284 9646 / email [email protected]
Entries: Online entries open at 08h00 on 2 March 2020 – ONLY 900 available entries
Registration: 14h00 – 19h00 on 18 September at the Houw Hoek Hotel & 06h00 – 07h30 on 19 September at the Houw Hoek Hotel
1st Finish venue: 19 September – Houw Hoek Hotel (on the lawn at the back of the Hotel – See http://www.houwhoekinn.co.za/largemap.html for map)
2nd Finish venue: 20 September – Hemel-en-Aarde Brewery - see hermanus.beer/contact-us/ for map. A Chicken / Beef Prego roll and chips at the Brewery’s finish, are included in the entry fee.
Entry fee: R 1000 per person (individual entries, not team entries), which excludes a Houwhoek event T-shirt, accommodation and meals, except the complimentary Chicken / Beef Prego roll and chips on Sunday 3 May, at the Hemel-en-Aarde Brewery finish.

Saturday Buffet Dinner at the Hotel. Join us for an event dinner with music, clips, and photos of the day’s stage from 18h00 in the Barnyard. The cost is R195 per person and guests not staying in the hotel must pre-book at [email protected]

Luggage transfers: Drop your bag on Sunday morning before the start of the Tour at the Registration venue and we will transport your bag from the Hotel to Whalehaven Winery.
ROUTE INFORMATION
The Houw Houk Tour gives you the opportunity to cycle some of the W2W RACE routes. The Tour also aims to let you explore and experience what a multi-stage event is all about and offers a relaxed and supportive atmosphere as no timing is done.
Stage 1 starts at 08h00 on Saturday 19 September 2020 and finishes at the Houw Hoek Hotel. This stage includes the Thandi, Paul Cluver, Korteshoven and Houw Hoek single tracks. New single tracks have been added in Paul Cluver, eliminating Kili Hills 1 & 2.
Stage 2 starts the same time on Sunday 20 September 2020 from the Houw Hoek Hotel. The route takes you down the historic Katpass, via Beaumont and the Wildekrans Winery trails, along the Botriver. Onto the Karwyders tar road, over the Steel bridge and then on single tracks that link the four historic cottages on Bot river farm. At the De Bos dam wall, you turn right down the Onrust river into the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, along Jan’s beautiful single tracks.
ESTIMATED RIDING TIMES
Winners: 2 hrs for each stage, whilst the "leisure" riders should finish within 4 hrs
