Copper Moon Events
Covid 19 has had a huge impact on the events industry and as a result we have had to come up with some innovative ways to keep things ticking over. And so Copper Moon Events proudly announces that we will be hosting a series of Socially Distanced Lockdown challenges. Join us over the next 2 months and take on a series of MTB and Trail Running challenges.
The first will be a XCO MTB challenge with the route opening on Friday 24 July 2020 on our improved XCO course behind Stanford Lake College, just off the R71, in Magoebaskloof. The route is approximately 6km and we have not only cleaned up and fixed up the old favorites but added a few exhilarating new sections.
The Route will be well marked and you will be able to go and do the challenge whenever you can.
Please note that this is not an organised event nor a race. It is a socially distanced challenge, you are allowed to cycle on your own under the current Covid 19 laws.
It is therefore of the utmost importance that each person read and understand the following RULES & REGULATIONS:
- Please keep at least 2meters from anyone else cycling on the route.
- Avoid gathering and physical contact on route.
- Please indicate to the person in front of you that you are going to pass and do so quickly without any physical contact.
- Please remember to wear your face mask.
- No helmet, no ride.
- If you aren't feeling well please stay at home.
- Strictly no spectators allowed.
- You must please leave after your ride to avoid social gatherings.
- You can repeat the challenge as many times as you like to improve your time.
Follow these steps to enter and complete the first challenge:
1. Join the MagoebaskloofMTB club on Strava https://www.strava.com/clubs/magoebaskloof_mtb
2. Enter the challenge on EntryNinja https://www.entryninja.com/events/73502-xco-lockdown
3. Come to Magoebaskloof between 24 July and the end of September 2020.
4. Ride the XCO route as many times as you want to.
5. After riding make sure you upload your ride to Strava. If you are not on Strava you cannot be timed/ranked.
The start of this particular challenge is at Stanford Lake College, behind the Barnyard. Please follow the MagoebaskloofMTB directional arrows to find the starting point.
XCO MTB Challenge Info:
6km XCO MTB Route - R200 p/p - a portion will be donated to the local tourism association to support the Magoebaskloof Tourism industry during this difficult time.
Limited parking will be available behind the Barnyard, near the lake, at Stanford Lake College
There are over R20 000 worth of prizes available for category winners.
Make sure that you have your own hydration. No littering.
NO SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED!
Please follow signage and be especially aware of any hazard signs.
Again - This is not an event. It is a socially distanced challenge for you to do alone in your own time in order to give the tourism industry a much needed boost.
