Just 40 min outside of Bloemfontein lies the picturesque farm, Alexandria, at the foot of the legendary Black Mountain - better known to the locals as Thaba Nchu Mountain. 

The mountain offers untamed beauty, gigantic sand stone rocks, little water falls after the rains, and secret caves with breathtaking views as far as the eye can see.  The trails intrude into the domain of the curious meerkats, the chatty guinea fowls, the odd shy duiker, reebok and dassies on the cliffs as well as fascinating birds and flora.  Elevations of over 1000 m are easily reached and will put the brave and strong to the test!

The Flanegan family has been farming on this precious land since 1916 and it is said that Alexandria farm is one of the oldest farms in the district.  The family members are all enthusiastic trail runners and Rodney Flanegan, owner of Alexandria once said: “We are so privileged and this is so beautiful; I just want to share it with everyone.” That is exactly what we’re doing!

Race Start and finish at the Alexandria Active Cafe.

Registration takes place from 07h00 on Saturday 12 June 2021.

RACE INCLUDES:

RACE EXCLUDES:

• Personal nutritional requirements
• Ambulance, helicopter evacuation and hospitalization

Prize giving for the first 3 places in each category will take place as soon as most runners are in. 

RUNNERS INFORMATION

There will be 3 categories to take part in: 

Mountain Goat Trail (21kms) - this big boy will challenge you with steep elevation (over 1000 m) and is a test of endurance.  Once conquered you will feel like the king of Thaba Nchu Mountain!  Rated: Expert/Extreme 

The Ox Wagon Trail (10 kms) is a diverse route with the best the mountain can offer; from steep slopes to canopies of trees and green valleys. Rated: Intermediate

The Cathedral Trail (5kms) is a non-technical, fun route that everyone can run/walk enjoying the beautiful scenery. Rated: Easy

• Runners must be self-sufficient for the day - there will be water stations at strategic points. 
• Runners must be fit and up for elevation and endurance. (21 & 10 KMS)
• Runners must stick to the marked trail and no short cuts are allowed. 
• There will be sweepers and check points.

NON COMPETITORS

This event aims to be a family day with farm style catering, music, a beer tent and lots of “gees”.  Come and relax under the trees while cheering the runners as they cross the finish line.

Bring the kids; there will be a jumping castle and plenty of clean, fresh air to enjoy. 

COVID REGULATIONS WILL BE ADHERED TO AND EACH PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS/HER OWN MASK AND SANITIZER
