NOW - No Ordinary Weekend, is organising a fun filled Run / Walk through the village of Barrydale and Smitsville.

It promises to be an adventure and fun filled weekend with local businesses, restaurants and establishments coming together to showcase all Barrydale has to offer. 

Bring your mountain, gravel or (heaven forbid) ROAD bikes and explore some of the great routes in and around Barrydale, why not sign up for one of the cycling experiences taking place on Saturday 17 December 2022 on the newly launched Tarras Doas Barrydale Cycle Loop

The run and walk events start Sunday morning, with the registration at Karoo Daisy  on the R62 (registration opens at 6:00). Coffee and food will be for sale to keep you fuelled and warm before the start. 

The events have a staggered start and head out from the Jukskei field, next to Karoo Daisy, in various directions, you will be finishing the run through the tunnel under the R62, bringing you out into the finishing chute. Here, you and your supporters will have the opportunity to share your war stories and enjoy a selection of mouth watering Pizza's, drinks and true Karoo hospitality in colourful surroundings.

While the active members of the family are out pounding the trails and streets, those not participating may want to pop into the Karoo Daisy Market which provides a number of local speciality stores and scrumptious breakfast options. Book your stay at one of the many delightful guest houses or AirBnB's, In your down time enjoy a short hike to the waterfalls or any of the other trails that take you out above the town, followed by a brunch at one of the many well known Barrydale establishments.

Now that you have decided to Run the Dale, why not join us on Friday 16^th December for our 5km Neon Night Fun Run? Arrive at 6pm on the Magpie field (Laing St) for a fun filled evening of food, music and Boere sports. Witness the switch on of the Magpie light installation and then set off on your run through our beautiful village under a blanket of stars – who knows, you may even see a shooting star!

Barrydale is not an easy village to leave, but when you finally do drag yourselves away, take a slow ‘slack pack’ drive back to Cape Town, or head up the Garden Route enjoying the many farm stalls and sights along the way.

Simply put, this can become your ‘No Ordinary Weekend’ for the whole family creating wonderful memories for the year ahead.
