Your unique 2022 Hope Hike and Hope Bike

Mental health is the starting point of all health, and with the psychological fall-out of the global Covid-19 pandemic, everyone’s mental health is at risk. Previously, mental health care was already under serious pressure. Now that pressure has increased so much more. Mental illnesses, such as depression, are not about “feeling down” and will not disappear by “just pulling yourself together”. Depression is a biological illness, and, as with other medical conditions, it requires treatment. Awareness campaigns help to break the silence around mental illnesses.

You can make a difference by joining us this year on an in-person OR a virtual HOPE HIKE and HOPE BIKE on Sunday, 2 October 2022. Funds raised go towards the Ithemba Foundation (ithemba means hope) to support research into mental health.

For the in-person HOPE HIKE and HOPE BIKE on Sunday, 2 October at Blaauwklippen entries close on Friday 30 September at 12:00.

For the virtual HOPE HIKE and HOPE BIKE, entries are open until 10 October, World Mental Health Day, because selfies can be posted onto Ithemba’s FB page until that day. So, let’s all talk the talk and walk the walk (or cycle!) to help normalise and humanise mental health!

This year’s event is unique, as it will be created by you, for you – and you can share your Hope selfie on https://www.facebook.com/IthembaFoundation1/ and stand the chance to win one of 10 Woolworths Vouchers to the value of R500 each.
