Join us for the Ultimate Experience. Race with your heart, conquer the unknown, and make memories that will last a lifetime. The "Race 2 Southern Tip of Africa" isn't just a race; it's a journey of discovery, teamwork, and pure, unadulterated fun!

OVERVIEW:

Race Dates & Starting Line:

-14 September 2024, DAY 1: 

06h00 START @ Du Toits Kloof Wine Estate, FINISH @ Napier.

-15 September 2024, DAY 2: 

07h00 START @ Napier High School, FINISH @ Struisbaai. (Catch Cook Restaurant)

Race Entry Collection: 13th September 12h00 – 20h00 @ Simonsvlei Wine Estate.

Event Briefing: 13th September,19h30 at Simonsvlei or watch it online live stream.

After Party: Catch Cook Restaurant with DJs playing the best 80s & 90s tunes.

-Prize giving @ 15h00 & Lucky draws @ 18h00

FORMAT

• SOLO: Participants must complete all stages, including cycling and running, except for the 5-kilometer run on Day 1.
• RELAY TEAMS flexibility reigns supreme. Teams can switch members as they please, as long as each section is completed by at least one team member per day.

> 2-man Team: Partners can alternate at checkpoints or divide the cycling and running sections between them.

> 3-man Team: Partners have even more options. They can switch at checkpoints or assign each member to handle a specific discipline, ensuring a dynamic and cooperative approach to the race.

CYCLE & RUN - REQUIREMENTS:

• Gravel & E- Bike Riders: Must be able to complete Cape Cycle Tour 109km or similar under 05:30:00.
• MTB Riders: Must be able to complete 100km under 06:30:00.
• Half Marathon Runner: Must be able to complete Two Oceans 21km or similar under 02:00:00.
• On DAY 2 Teams park vehicles as quickly as possible at Catch Cook and then ride until they find their running partner to join him/her and finish race as a team.)
• Participants must be 18 years or older entering solo or 2-man Team.
• Participants must be 15 years or older entering in 3-man team. Only allowed 1 stage a day and cannot run full 21km and over, must exchange with another team member.

Solo: Early Bird (valid until 1 May) R3 150 per person | Full Price R3 650 per person. 

2-man:  Early Bird (valid until 1 May) R5 500 per team| Full Price R6 200 per team.

3-man:  Early Bird (valid until 1 May)  R7 500 per team | Full Price R8 500 per team

Included for 2 day Stage Race:

• Free camping spot at Napier High School (Bring own camping gear). OR 100x Dorm beds available in the hostel, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE (bring own bedding).

1 DAY STAGE RACE

DAY 1 Race: Du Toitskloof Wine Cellar > Napier (208km)     OR    DAY 2 Race: Napier > Struisbaai (155km)

Solo: Early Bird (valid until 1 May)  R1 700 per person | Full Price R1 950 per person

2-man: Early Bird (valid until 1 May) R2 900 per team | Full Price R3 400 per team

3-man: Early Bird (valid until 1 May)  R3 900 per team | Full Price R4 600 per team

SUPPORT CREW:

• 2 DAY @R1500 per person (Includes meals)
• 1 DAY @ R950 per person (Includes meals)

Your crew, who act as seconds, providing assistance during the race. For example, in a two-person team, each member covers their own expenses and operates as a support member if not actively participating in the race.

Rules of the Race:

• Race starts 14th September at 06h00 Saturday Morning and 15th September at 07h00 Sunday morning.
• Finish each day solo or as a team before the cut-off. Solo has extra time as above mentioned.
• Prize giving and after-party at 15h00 with Pasta and Beers included while stock last until 18h00.
• Front headlights and back lights required.
• GPS routes on phones and smartwatches with maps provided by organizers.

CUT OFF TIMES:

Day 1: 208km Duathlon - 186km Gravel & MTB + 22km Run (Finish 19h00)

- Teams: 13 hours to finish before cut-off.  Caledon cut-off at 13h00.

- Solo: 14 hours 30 minutes to finish before cut-off.  Caledon cut-off at 14h00.

DAY 1 Route: Du Toits Kloof wine cellar - Stettyn Family Vineyards- Rusty Rest- Caledon -Hemel and Aarde area - Tesslersdal- stone Cheese- napier

Day 2: 155km Duathlon - 133km Gravel & MTB + 22km Run (Finish 17h00)

- Teams: 10 hours to finish before cut-off. Elim cut-off at 12h30.

- Solo: 11 hours to finish before cut-off. Elim cut-off at 13h30.

DAY 2 Route: Napier – Vadersberg – Agulhas Nature Reserve – Elim – Brandfontein – Southern Tip – Agulhas – Struisbaai.

CHALLENGES AND REWARDS:

• Speed races, King of the Mountain, King of the Hills (MTB only), Fastest runner challenges.
• Massive cash prizes totalling R120,000.00.
• 10 lucky draws for tourism experiences and gadgets valued at over R100,000.00.

PRIZE MONEY:

2-Day Stage Race: 

First Place R10k | Second Place R5k | Third Place R3k.

1-Day Stage Race: 

First Place R3k | Second Place R2k | Third Place R1k.

**Cash Prize Eligibility:

- Minimum 10 entries per category for full cash prizes. (EXAMPLE: 10x Solo, 10x 2Man Teams & 10x 3Man Teams)

- 5 entries or more guarantee half of cash prizes.

- 50% of the prize money will be donated to the Fire Department, with participants having the option to nominate which of the four fire departments they would like to support with their donation.

- 2 Day stage Race entries & 1-Day Stage Race are all eligible for prizes

- Cash prizes are shared between team members in team categories, but in the case of solo riders, the prize is awarded directly to the individual.

- E-Bike riders compete in a separate category, and even if there's only one E-Bike entry in a team, they are classified under the EBike category.

- No distinction between Male, Female, or Elite winners; all participants are considered LEGEND participants.

- Handicap percentages apply to females and participants over 55 to level the playing field:

• Ladies under 55: 9.5% handicap.
• Ladies 55 and over: 12.5% handicap.
• Men 55 and over: 4% handicap.

We race through for the following Municipal areas:

• Drakenstein Municipality
• BreedeValley Municipality
• Overberg Municipality
• Cape Agulhas Municipality

Contributions can also be made during race entry via Entry Ninja.

While not an NGO, Race2SouthernTip aims to support the firefighters who protect our mountains and homes. All participants are encouraged to contribute towards this cause.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

• Water points available at every stage, bring own water bottles or hydration backpacks and additional nutrition supplies
• Participants must ensure that they and their second (support crew) have all necessary tools, safety gear & medical kit.
• Participants need GPS devices and battery chargers to avoid running out of battery. Race is GPS only with roadbook provided every 10km or more info.
• Participants must carry all necessary tools between stages and can only work on bikes or change batteries at designated exchange areas. Cycling approximately 50-70km and running 12-14km per stage.
• Bag drop area will NOT be available at this event.
