Experience the Adventure of a Lifetime at the Nieuwoudtville Great Trek!
Experience the ultimate mountain biking adventure at the Nieuwoudtville Great Trek, happening amidst the stunning landscapes of the Northern Cape, from April 26th to 28th, 2024. This exhilarating 3-day stage race covers a challenging 100 miles (160km) of diverse terrain, showcasing the beauty of the Northern Cape with thrilling single tracks, scenic jeep tracks, and rugged gravel roads. In addition, participants will be awed by the vibrant autumn flowers and the captivating Great Knersvlakte landscape.
Furthermore, cyclists & spectators can look forward to enjoying local cuisine and live entertainment by renowned artists Jakkie Louw and Frank Opperman.

Stage 1
Friday 26 April, 17:30
Distance: 20km
This beautiful first stage takes riders on beautiful sunset ride overlooking the vast Knersvlakte.
Stage 2
Saturday 27 April, 08:00
Distance: 45km, 100km
This stage will also double as the open day for participants looking to take part in only one of the days during the Great Trek event. Riders can look forward to great jeep track and gravel routes - a true challenge offering great history and fantastic local hospitality. Water points will be available with local snacks and great drinks. There will be plenty photo opportunities and fantastic views. Finish off the day with a great live show by Jakkie Louw, cold beers and great food.
Stage 3
Sunday 28 April, 08:00
Distance: 40km
Stage 3 consists of jeep tracks, single tracks and gravel roads. Riders can look forward to cycling through the botanical gardens, wild flower area and beautiful surroundings.

Open Day package for Saturday, 27 April | R250 for 45km, R350 for 100km
Includes: Medal & event glass.
CSA Day License | R50 per day per rider
Cyclists can not attend without license.

Darling Brew has collaborated with three local guesthouses in the Nieuwoudtville area for this event - the Blou Huis, Boereplaas & Willems Rivier guesthouse. Please take note that you can only book a weekend package and not singular days - packages exclude food. Limited space available. Food options
All pre-booked meals will be served at The Blou Huis, even for residents of other guesthouses. Meals must be pre-booked.

Live entertainment
All participants get free access to the Jakkie Louw show on Saturday night at 20h00, however tickets must be purchased for the Frank Opperman show on Sunday at 13h00. All spectators to purchase tickets for both. These shows will be held at the Blou Huis.

Please take note that if you wish to only enjoy your pre-booked meals and not attend the shows, you will be accommodated in the restaurant area of the Blou Huis.
Kids entertainment
The botanical gardens will be offering a fantastic kids entertainment program with slip & slide, jumping castles, guided kids ride, child minders and snack packs. Payment can be made on the day, preferably cash payments.
