The The Big 5 will test MTB riders over 80km and 3 000m of climbing. The route is aimed to be the perfect preparation for the 2026 ABSA Cape Epic, to tick a BIG one off your bucket list or just to really challenge your fitness and skills.
Order your Big 5 event T-shirt to have a memento (an extra cost of R150 each). Entries before 20 January 2026 will be able to add T-shirts to their entries. No T-shirts are available for order after 20 January 2026.
PLEASE NOTE: E-bikes are not allowed on this event.
Starting (at 6h30) and finishing at Imbuko Family Wines outside Wellington, riders will be treated to some amazing mountain biking on the world-renowned trails of the Wellington Trails (and some other sections not normally used!). The infamous Cliffhanger trail will test your single track climbing and descending skills and will reward you with one of the most beautiful 360 views of the Hawekwa Mountains.
ONE bunch start at 6h30.
Please note that no refunds will be made for this event. If you are unable to ride, you may roll-over your entry to 2027 by arranging this with the organiser ([email protected]).
No roll-overs will be allowed after 1 February 2026.
Number collection: You can collect at any venue and do not have to indicate prior to the event where you will collect.
Wednesday 18 February 2026: Cape Union Mart Somerset Mall, Somerset West - 13h00 - 15h00.
Thursday 19 February 2026: Cape Union Mart Shop, Adventure Centre, outside Canal Walk - 13h00 until 18h00.
Friday 20 February 2026: Imbuko Family Wines - 9h00 until 19h00.
Saturday 15 February 2025: Imbuko Family Wines from 5h30 onwards.
