Orienteering is competitive or non-competitive recreational hiking or running activity in which participants use a map and compass (compass is not compulsory!) to navigate between checkpoints along an unfamiliar route. For more information visit www.orienteering.co.za 

This is the 6th orienteering event in the Gauteng Bush Orienteering series for 2025. Five different courses are on offer, ranging in technical and physical difficulty. Course distances are currently estimated and will change. Exact course details will be included in the final info email sent to competitors on Friday 24th October. 

Each course ranges from a short a easy family 2.5km to a more technical and physically demanding 8km. 

The courses are: 

Brown Course for experienced orienteers and fit runners

Blue Course is slightly shorter than Brown, and is also for experienced orienteers and fit runners

Green Course is slightly shorter than Blue, and is for less experienced orienteers looking for a challenge

Light Green Course is slightly shorter than Green and is for novice orienteers looking for a challenge. This is a great course for family groups

Orange Course is easy and fun, and is aimed as a simple introduction to orienteering for novice orienteers and kids

Registration and finish will be close to the PLTFRM and Boma Restaurants. There is a lovely children's play park as well.

The Wolwespruit area consists of a wooded kloof with steep rocky slopes on either side. An intricate mountain biking and hiking / trail running path network winds its way through mixed wattle forests, grasslands and indigenous suikerbossie woodland.

There will be water points on the course, but we still encourage you to carry your own water as the terrain is quite arduous and it is also mid-summer.
