SHEPHERD'S FOUNTAIN   TRAIL RUN  !!  

Event #2 is hosted by Shepherd’s Fountain just outside of Montagu off the R62.  The trails have been coming since 2006 and is stunningly laid out to have 360 degree views of the area and magnificent views of the Langeberge.

6 km Fun Run | 194 m ascent

These trails, mostly single track, is well established and is only accessible to the public with special events like this one.  The trails criss-cross a typical karoo koppie and ridge giving 360 degree views of the Langeberge and Talana.  The fun run is the first section of the 10km trail run and before you hit the big climbs you make your way back to the start/finish area.  You will experience the smells of the Kapokbos and other endemic Karoo vegetation.

10.2 km Trail Run | 299 m ascent

The first 4km of the 10km route is the same as the fun run. These routes, though mainly single track, are non- technical with rolling hills that gives spectacular 360° views over the Klein Karoo landscape as well as the Langeberg mountains. Fair amount of elevation gain and speedy down hills. The routes take you through succulent Karoo and renosterveld with pleasant fragrances of natural herbal plant species. (Kapokbos)

14.2 km Trail Run | 374 m ascent

The long trail run consists of mostly single track and shares the last section with the shorter routes. These routes, though mainly single track, are non- technical with rolling hills that gives spectacular 360° views over the Klein Karoo landscape as well as the Langeberg mountains. Fair amount of elevation gain and speedy down hills. The routes take you through succulent Karoo and renosterveld with pleasant fragrances of natural herbal plant species. (Kapokbos)
