The Munga (Pty) Ltd
What if you could ride the most iconic mountain bike route in South Africa — without the race clock, without the pressure, and with a glass of wine waiting for you at the end of each day?
Welcome to The Tour.
October is the Karoo at its finest. Golden light. Cool mornings. Roads that go forever.
The Tour takes place 10 – 16 October 2026 — six days of fully supported, self-paced riding along the full Munga race route from Bloemfontein to Wellington. This is not a race. It's a journey, and there is a very meaningful difference.
Every day you roll out onto the legendary Munga roads... the same passes, farm tracks, and Karoo stretches that define South Africa's most iconic ultra-endurance race .. with three support vehicles, daily snack stops, and absolutely nowhere to be except exactly where you are.
Every evening you arrive to a farm-cooked meal, fine wines, and a real bed. The farmers who host the Munga race villages cook for you. The same people who have watched thousands of exhausted riders roll through their farms will sit with you, share their stories, and make you feel completely at home in the middle of nowhere.
Six days. Fully supported. Completely unforgettable. Limited spots available.
This is the Munga route, the best parts of it, from Bloemfontein to Wellington. ridden over six days at your own pace, fully supported, fully fed, and fully immersed in the raw beauty of the Karoo. This is not a race. This is a journey. And there is a very big difference.
Each day you roll out onto the same legendary roads that Munga racers have suffered, crawled, and triumphed on. You'll ride the iconic Ouberg Pass. You'll tackle Razzle Dazzle and Bo-Swaarmoed. You'll cross the same vast, silent landscapes that have broken and rebuilt some of the toughest riders in the country. But when the day is done, you won't be collapsing into a sleeping bag on a race village floor.
You'll be sitting down to a farm-cooked meal, prepared by the very farmers who host the Munga race villages. You'll have fine wines to wash the dust down. You'll have a real bed waiting for you. Three support vehicles will be on the road with you all day — one ahead of the first rider, one behind the last, one roving in between — so no one ever feels alone out there.
This is the Munga as it was always meant to be experienced first. A recce of the soul, not just the route. A chance to understand every climb, every farm, every stretch of silence before you decide to race it — or simply to fall in love with it all over again.
Six days. Bloemfontein to Wellington. The Karoo, the Winelands, and everything in between.
Entries are limited. This one fills up fast.

CANCELLATION / SUBSTITUTION:
Organising such an event has many challenges and can’t be left to the last minute. The refund policy schedule is based on certain suppliers, service providers, and volunteers that have been paid leading up to the preparation of the event weeks and months to the race. If your refund, deferral or substitution is requested after the last cut-off as stated below, we have already prepared and paid for you to attend the event. It’s not a matter of ‘carrying-over’ the entry (your money) to the following year – it’s spent already. Which would mean we are paying you to either not attend this year or ride for free next year – which is not fair, hence warning you upfront. This includes medical reasons as well.
CANCELLATION PROCESS:
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to The Munga at: [email protected] and [email protected]. The date of receipt will determine the applicable terms.
PLEASE REFER THE OFFICIAL MUNGA RULES FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION.
CANCELLATION MORE THAN 8 WEEKS BEFORE THE EVENT:
If a rider cancels more than 8 weeks before the event start date, the rider may be eligible for a credit of up to 75% toward a future official Munga event, the exact amount retained will be reasonable and based on costs already incurred. Credits are valid for 12 months and subject to event availability and a rider can only defer an entry once in 12 months.
CANCELLATION BETWEEN 4 AND 8 WEEKS BEFORE THE EVENT:
If a rider cancels between 4 and 8 weeks before the event start date, the rider may be eligible for a partial credit of up to 50% toward a future official Munga event, the exact amount retained will be reasonable and based on costs already incurred and the likelihood of filling the rider’s place (Rider to arrange a substitute rider for their entry). Credits are valid for 12 months and subject to event availability and a rider can only defer an entry once in 12 months.
CANCELLATION WITHIN 4 WEEKS OF THE EVENT:
If a rider cancels within 4 weeks of the event, the rider may be charged a cancellation fee, which may be up to 100% of the entry fee. However, if the rider’s place is successfully filled (Rider to arrange a substitute rider for their entry), a partial credit may be considered
RIDER SUBSTITUTIONS:
- A rider can substitute their entry with another rider as per the Time Frames stated above.
- Rider substitutions will only be allowed once, as each entry has one ‘life’. In other words, a rider may substitute / transfer his entry only once.
- Substitutions may be requested up to 3 weeks before the event start date. Note that no custom apparel etc would be available for the substituted rider.
- Approval will not be unreasonably withheld.
- The substitute rider must complete all entry requirements on the online portal and pay the necessary administration fees.
- An administration fee will apply, based on actual processing costs (typically 25% to 50%).
- No Apparel or Customized items will be included in entry or goodie bags if request for substitution is made within 8 weeks of the event start date.
- Take note that no rider substitutions will be allowed 21 days before the race start date.
TRANSFERS AND CREDITS:
Entry fees are not transferable to another rider outside of the approved substitution process. Approved credits may be used for any official Munga event, subject to availability and within the Time Frames above (within 12 months).
DISCRETION AND FAIRNESS:
The Munga reserves the right to make decisions in exceptional circumstances.
All decisions will be made in line with the principles of fairness, reasonableness, and applicable law, including the Consumer Protection Act.
