Five riders. One route. One finish line. All of it earned.
The Munga Equipe is a relay format of South Africa's most iconic ultra-endurance MTB race — 1,130km from Bloemfontein to Doolhof Wine Estate in Wellington, divided between a team of two to five riders. Each rider takes on one section of the full Munga route between race villages, racing their leg as hard and fast as they can before handing the baton to the next.
The route is the same. The Karoo is the same. The heat, the dirt roads, the waterpoints manned by legendary farmers, the race villages with hot meals and real beds — all of it exactly the same as the Solo race. The only difference is that you don't carry the whole thing alone.
And then there's the final leg. From RV5 to the finish at Doolhof, every team member rides together. The whole team, on the road, crossing the finish line as one. It's the moment the Equipe was built for.
Teams of 2 to 5. All abilities welcome. One non-negotiable: you all finish together.
RACE INFORMATION:

- Registration: Compulsory on Tuesday, 24 November 2026

- Entry Limits: 300
- Entry Costs:
Early bird: R60 000 ( R12 00 per rider)
Normal price R70 000 ( R14 00 per rider)
PAYMENT:
- Options: Card or EFT via the online portal. Follow payment instructions carefully.
- Deadline: Pay within 24 hours, or the entry will lapse.
CONFIRMATION:
- Entry confirmation will be emailed after payment.
- Race number confirmation will be sent a week before race day via email/sms.

SUBSITUTION:
Cancellation Process
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to The Munga at [email protected] and [email protected]. The date of receipt will determine the applicable terms.
Cancellation More Than 8 Weeks Before the Event
If a rider cancels more than 8 weeks before the event start date:
- The rider will be eligible for either:
- A credit of up to 75% toward a future official Munga event
- The exact amount retained will be reasonable and based on costs already incurred
- Credits are valid for 12 months and subject to event availability
- A rider can only defer an entry once
Cancellation Between 4 and 8 Weeks Before the Event: If cancellation occurs between 4 and 8 weeks before the event:
- The rider may receive a partial credit (up to 50%)
- The retained portion of the fee will reflect:
- Costs already incurred
- The likelihood of filling the rider’s place
Cancellation Within 4 Weeks of the Event: If a rider cancels within 4 weeks of the event:
A reasonable cancellation fee will apply, which may be up to 100% of the entry fee
However, if the rider’s place is successfully filled, a partial refund or credit may be considered
Rider Substitutions
Substitutions may be requested up to 2-3 weeks before the event
Approval will not be unreasonably withheld
An administration fee will apply, based on actual processing costs (typically 25% to 50%)
The substitute rider must complete all entry requirements
Transfers and Credits
Entry fees are not transferable to another rider outside of the approved substitution process
Approved credits may be used for any official Munga event, subject to availability
Discretion and Fairness
The Munga reserves the right to make decisions in exceptional circumstances.
All decisions will be made in line with the principles of fairness, reasonableness, and applicable law, including the Consumer Protection Act.

- Start Time: 12:00, Wednesday, 25 November
- Route Maps: GPX and route file will be published and sent one week before the race
- Cut-off Times: 12:00, Monday, 30 November
POST RACE:
Medals are handed out as the Teams finish
Prize Giving will be held at as the top 3 Teams come in.
