What is Orienteering? Think treasure hunt meets hiking, trail running meets bushwhacking – all of which adds up to the adventurous fun of orienteering.
Orienteering involves navigating through unfamiliar terrain to numbered locations (called controls) using a detailed topographical map. Your goal is to use your map and compass, pick the best route that you decide and visit the controls, marked with an orange and white flag and electronic timing unit, in numerical order, in the shortest time.
Our 2nd Bush event for 2026 is the Mountain Marathon at Kings Kloof Trails. Do not let the name - Mountain Marathon - put you off though. The beautiful views, winding paths through covered forests, adventurous river crossings and waterfalls make up for all the uphill climbs! If you are not a club member competing in your age category for a trophy, you can choose the course and distance that best suits you and your capabilities.
