Kleinkrantz to Pili Pili Coastal Hike 🌊

We’ll be tackling an approx. 16km coastal route from Kleinkrantz, finishing off with a well-deserved lekker kuier at Pili Pili 🙌

The timing works beautifully, with low tide at around 07:49, giving us the perfect window to explore this coastline at its best.
As the ocean pulls back, a hidden world is revealed — a patchwork of tidal pools filled with colour and life. Expect to spot sea crabs, anemones, shells, sea urchins, and even small fish in these natural aquariums.

This route is truly something special:
Dramatic coastline with the iconic Gericke’s Point and its lion-like rock formation
Expansive beaches, often scattered with beautiful shells
Some of the highest fossilised dunes in South Africa
Endless ocean views, with that wild Indian Ocean energy

Shuttle Departure: 07:00 sharp (to Kleinkrantz beach)

Difficulty: 4/10 (moderate, distance-based)
Finish: Back at Pili Pili for a relaxed social 🍻

⚠️ Important: Gericke’s Point becomes inaccessible at high tide — which makes this low-tide window extra special and not to be missed!

Suitable lightweight hydration pack or backpack
1–2 litres of water (depending on the distance)
Sunscreen
Hat
Shoes for Hiking/Beach/Barefoot
Trail snacks / hiking food
Lightweight windproof jacket or fleece
Beanie and gloves (depending on the weather)
A waterproof jacket is also recommended
Tip: It’s always best to dress in layers.
