Our St John's Orienteering Event at St John's College is the 5th event in our Urban series. The towering heritage buildings, ivy-covered walls and grand stone archways create the perfect setting for a unique urban orienteering adventure, suitable for beginners, families, and experienced orienteers alike.
Orienteering is an outdoor adventure sport where you use a detailed map to navigate through different terrain to find a series of checkpoints called controls. You choose your own route between points, making it a fun challenge of fitness, strategy and navigation. There are different course options to suit all levels of fitness and experience. It can be done individually or as a group, competitively or just for fun! You choose what works for you.
There are 3 courses on offer -
Men's course: Suitable for experienced Orienteers, 3.9km approx length, 120m climb
Women's course: Suitable for experienced Orienteers, 3.3km approx length, 90m climb
Explorer course: Suitable for novices, 2.0km approx length, 35m climb
The courses run through the intricate buildings and sports fields of St John's College as well as traversing the bridge across to Roedean School to do some navigating there before returning to St John's again.

This event supports team entries for certain classes. Team sizes range from 2 - 4 participants per team.
