What is Orienteering? Think treasure hunt meets hiking, trail running meets bushwhacking – all of which adds up to the adventurous fun of orienteering.
Orienteering involves navigating through unfamiliar terrain to numbered locations (called controls) using a detailed topographical map. Your goal is to use your map and compass, pick the best route that you decide and visit the controls, marked with an orange and white flag and electronic timing unit, in numerical order, in the shortest time.
Our 7th Bush event for 2026 is at Phambile where you will navigate through typical highveld bush-land, grassy plains, hills and rocky areas. Choose the course and distance that best suits you and your capabilities.
Colour courses explained:
| BROWN | Difficult navigation, physicality hard and long | Best for: | Very experienced Orienteers |
| BLUE | Difficult navigation and physicality hard | Best for: | Experienced Orienteers |
| GREEN | Difficult navigation and moderate physicality | Best for: | Intermediate Orienteers |
