Let's celebrate spring in a nature reserve! Join us for the Bracken Nature Reserve SPRING DAY FESTIVAL by Friends of Bracken Nature Reserve, in partnership with Duprelen Accountants and Pam Golding Properties Brackenfell.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual stroller or simply looking for a fun day out with family and friends, this event is perfect for all ages and fitness levels.
There will be a fun run, guided walks, rock painting, cannon firing, lucky draw and food & craft stalls. Benches are spread out in the reserve for a family to have a picnic during the event.
What to Expect:
5 KM FUN RUN
- Start 8H00
- R50 adults
- R20 kids (under 13)
- Walkers and runners are welcome
- Refreshments will be provided
- Medals for all finishers
ROCK PAINTING
- 9H00 - 11H30
- In Environmental Centre
- Kids of all ages
- Paint an animal of your choice
FLOWER WALK
- 2 free guided walks
- 9H30 - 10H15
- 10H15 - 11H00
- Flora and fauna of Bracken Nature Reserve
- Limited to 30 people per walk
LUCKY DRAW
- 11H00
- Stand a chance to win variety of prizes
CANNON FIRING
- 11H45
- History of signal cannons during VOC period
- Fire cannons at 12H00 (1 large and 2 smaller)
The person that has the best spring outfit, winner of the fun run and Alderman Grant Twigg to fire a cannon!
Gates will open from 07H00.

| Route information | - Take N1 east towards Brackenfell. - Take the ramp off the N1 at Okovango Rd. - Turn right onto Okovango Rd and go over the railway bridge. - Turn right onto Old Paarl Rd and drive past Shoprite Brackenfell. - Turn left onto Kruis Rd and drive towards traffic department. - Turn left onto Reservoir St and drive up until you get to Bracken Nature Reserve. - Old entrance is currently closed so drive further up Reservoir St until you get to the pump station on your left. |
