Our Royal Night Orienteering Event at Royal Johannesburg Golf Club is the 8th event in our Urban series and adds an exciting twist - headlamps on, maps and a torch in hand as you explore the golf course after dark. Suitable for beginners, families, and experienced Orienteers alike, this promises to be a fun event.
Orienteering is an outdoor adventure sport where you use a detailed map to navigate through different terrain to find a series of checkpoints called controls. You choose your own route between points, making it a fun challenge of fitness, strategy and navigation. There are different course options to suit all levels of fitness and experience. It can be done individually or as a group, competitively or just for fun! You choose what works for you.
There are 3 courses on offer:
Men's course: Suitable for experienced Orienteers, 4km approx length
Women's course: Suitable for experienced Orienteers, 3.6km approx length
Explorer course: Suitable for novices, 2.5km approx length
The courses run over undulating tree-lined fairways. A stream extends the length of the northern part of the course, with several crossing points.
Note that your personal start time will be allocated once entries have closed, and will be communicated to you prior to the event.

This event supports team entries for certain classes. Team sizes range from 2 - 4 participants per team.

| Route information | From N3 South (recommended route) take the Linksfield off-ramp. Turn right at the robot into Linksfield Road. After ± 2km right into Gemmel St. Right into Meyer St. Immediate left into Denny Dalton Rd – follow to main entrance on the left.
