EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Bayethe Addo Explore Fun Run is an exciting outdoor experience designed to bring together fitness enthusiasts, families, walkers, runners, and adventure lovers to explore and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Addo.

This fun-filled event is about more than just crossing the finish line. It is an opportunity to experience the outdoors, challenge yourself, connect with fellow participants, and enjoy the unique natural beauty and atmosphere that Addo has to offer.

Participants of all fitness levels are welcome. Whether you choose to run, jog, or walk, the Bayethe Addo Explore Fun Run encourages everyone to participate at their own pace and enjoy the journey.

The route may include natural terrain, uneven surfaces, hills, gravel roads, and other outdoor conditions. Participants should therefore wear suitable running or walking shoes and appropriate clothing.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. EVENT PARTICIPATION

Participation in the Bayethe Addo Explore Fun Run is voluntary and is undertaken entirely at the participant's own risk.

All participants must complete the official event registration process and agree to the Event Indemnity and Participation Agreement before taking part.

Participants are expected to be physically fit and medically capable of completing their chosen route or distance.


2. EVENT RULES

All participants must comply with the instructions and directions provided by Event organisers, marshals, officials, volunteers, and safety personnel.

Participants must:

  • Follow the designated route and Event signage;

  • Respect marshals, officials, volunteers, and fellow participants;

  • Avoid dangerous, reckless, or disruptive behaviour;

  • Respect the natural environment and surrounding properties;

  • Dispose of litter responsibly;

  • Not interfere with the safety or enjoyment of other participants.

The organisers reserve the right to remove any participant who fails to comply with Event rules or behaves in a manner that may endanger themselves or others.


3. HEALTH AND FITNESS

Participants acknowledge that the Event involves physical activity and may take place in challenging outdoor conditions.

Each participant is responsible for assessing their own level of fitness and ability before participating.

Participants with medical conditions, injuries, or health concerns are encouraged to seek medical advice before participating.

Participants should stop immediately and seek assistance if they experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or any other symptoms of distress during the Event.


4. ROUTE AND TERRAIN

The Event route may include:

  • Gravel roads;

  • Uneven terrain;

  • Natural trails;

  • Hills and inclines;

  • Dusty or muddy surfaces;

  • Changing weather conditions.

Participants must exercise caution at all times and remain aware of their surroundings.

The organisers reserve the right to alter, shorten, reroute, or modify the course where necessary for safety, environmental, weather, or operational reasons.


5. MINORS

Participants under the age of 18 may participate only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

A parent or legal guardian may be required to complete and sign the relevant indemnity and consent documentation on behalf of the minor.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for the supervision and safety of minors participating in the Event.


6. SAFETY

Participant safety is a priority. Participants must comply with all safety instructions issued by the organisers and Event officials.

Participants are encouraged to:

  • Wear appropriate footwear and clothing;

  • Carry sufficient water where necessary;

  • Protect themselves from the sun and weather conditions;

  • Be aware of other participants and surrounding terrain.

Medical assistance may be available during the Event; however, participants remain responsible for their own health and wellbeing.


7. WEATHER AND EVENT CHANGES

The Event may be affected by weather conditions or circumstances beyond the control of the organisers.

The organisers reserve the right to postpone, cancel, shorten, reschedule, or modify the Event where necessary due to:

  • Severe weather;

  • Safety concerns;

  • Environmental conditions;

  • Operational requirements;

  • Force majeure or circumstances beyond reasonable control.

Participants will be informed of significant changes where reasonably possible.

Refunds will be handled in accordance with the Event's applicable refund policy and South African law.


8. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings before, during, and after the Event.

The Event organisers shall not be held responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

Participants are encouraged not to bring unnecessary valuables to the Event.


9. PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA

By participating in the Event, participants acknowledge that photographs, videos, and other media may be captured during the Event.

Such material may be used by the Bayethe Addo Explore Fun Run organisers for legitimate Event-related purposes, including:

  • Marketing and promotion;

  • Social media;

  • Websites;

  • Future Event advertising;

  • News and media coverage.

Participants who do not wish to appear prominently in promotional material should notify the Event organisers in writing before the Event where reasonably possible.


10. ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

The Bayethe Addo Explore Fun Run celebrates the natural beauty of the Addo area.

Participants are expected to respect the environment and:

  • Avoid littering;

  • Stay on designated routes;

  • Avoid disturbing wildlife;

  • Respect plants, natural features, and private property;

  • Leave the Event area clean and undamaged.

Take nothing but memories. Leave nothing but footprints.


11. ENTRY AND REGISTRATION

Entry to the Event is subject to successful registration and payment of the applicable entry fee, where applicable.

Entries may be limited, and the organisers reserve the right to close registrations once capacity has been reached.

Entry fees may be non-refundable except where required by applicable law or the Event's stated refund policy.

Participants may not transfer or resell their entry without prior approval from the Event organisers.


12. RIGHT OF ADMISSION

The organisers reserve the right of admission.

Any participant who behaves in a dangerous, abusive, disruptive, or inappropriate manner may be removed from the Event without refund.

The organisers may refuse participation where reasonably necessary to protect the safety, wellbeing, or enjoyment of participants, staff, volunteers, or the public.


13. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By registering for and participating in the Bayethe Addo Explore Fun Run, participants confirm that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions;

  • Agree to comply with all Event rules and safety instructions;

  • Understand the risks associated with outdoor physical activity;

  • Participate voluntarily and at their own risk;

  • Agree to the Event Indemnity and Participation Agreement.

Route information From Port Elizabeth
From Port Elizabeth follow the N2 towards Grahamstown until you come to the offramp to the R335 (Motherwell, Sundays River Valley). Take this offramp and follow the R335 until you reach the village of Addo. Opposite the Addo police station, turn left into the Valentine Road. Follow the Valentine Road until you see thTravel Addo Farmstall on your right.(+-1.5km).

From Kirkwood
From Kirkwood follow the R336 until the junction of the R336 and R335. Turn right towards Addo. Opposite the Addo police station turn right into the Valentine Road and follow the road until you see the Travel Addo Farmstall sign on your right.(+- 1.5km.).
