Join VENTURE BUTIK for a relaxed 10 km out-and-back walk through the beautiful rural town of Friemersheim — a little Garden Route gem filled with history, character and spectacular countryside views.

We’ll meet from 07:45, with the walk getting underway at 08:00.

With approximately 201 m elevation gain, this is a relaxed outing where the emphasis is on enjoying the surroundings, exploring the village and sharing a good morning outdoors.

🥾 THE WALK

Our route takes us through and around the rural village, with opportunities to enjoy:

🌄 Beautiful views across Botlierskop and the surrounding countryside

🌿 Glimpses of the natural and wilder landscape surrounding Friemersheim

🎨 The colourful work of local artist Fourie Ackermann, whose murals have added a unique artistic character to some of the village homes

🏛️ Historic buildings and landmarks that tell the story of this fascinating little community

🏘️ A LITTLE HISTORY

Friemersheim has a fascinating history dating back to the 19th century. The settlement began as a mission station, with German missionary Reverend Johann Kretzen establishing a school and church on the farm Gonnakraal in 1869.

The village developed into the community we know today, retaining many of its historic buildings and its distinctive rural character. Along our walk we'll pass some of these reminders of the past, including the historic church and post office.

It’s one of those places where the best way to experience the history is simply to slow down, walk the streets and look around.

☕ AND THEN… LUNCH!

After our walk, we’ll settle in at the famous Bellevue Restaurant for refreshments and good company.

The restaurant kitchen opens at 12:00, making it the perfect opportunity to linger over lunch after our morning adventure.

Lunch and refreshments are for your own account.
