MTB Adventures
The Houw Hoek Tour is a non-competitive 2 day MTB stage event. The objective is to give MTB’s and newcomers to multi-stage events (NOT NEWCOMERS TO MTB) the opportunity to enjoy a weekend of scenic, fun and non-competitive riding. However, make sure that you are fit as each of the two stages are approximately 50 km, mostly on gravel roads (including jeep and single tracks) and that you can and love riding single tracks.

Start venue: Houw Hoek Inn, Elgin
Entries: Online entries open at 08h00 on 1 March 2018 – ONLY 900 available entries
Registration: 14h00 – 20h00 on 4 May at the Houw Hoek Inn & 06h00 – 07h30 on 5 May at the Houw Hoek Inn
1st Finish venue: 5 May – Houw Hoek Inn (on the lawn at the back of the Inn – See http://www.houwhoekinn.co.za/largemap.html for map)
2nd Finish venue: 6 May – Whalehaven Winery at Wine Village at the Hermanus & Sandbaai robot intersection (See http://www.hpf1855.co.za/winery/cellar-location for map)
Entry fee: R 900 per person (individual entries, not team entries), which excludes a Houwhoek event T-shirt, accommodation and meals. An event T-Shirt can be ordered @ R 100 and a long sleeve viscose sweater @ R 200.
Luggage transfers: Drop your bag on Sunday morning before the start of the Tour at the Registration venue and we will transport your bag from the Inn to Whalehaven Winery.
ROUTE INFORMATION
The Houw Houk Tour gives you the opportunity to cycle some of the W2W RACE routes. The Tour also aims to let you explore and experience what a multi-stage event is all about and offers a relax and supportive atmosphere as no timing is done.
Stage 1 starts at 08h00 on Saturday 5 May 2018 and finishes at the Houw Hoek Inn. This stage includes the Thandi, Paul Cluver, Korteshoven and Houw Hoek single tracks. New single tracks have been added in Paul Cluver, eliminating Kili Hills 1 & 2.
Stage 2 starts same time on Sunday 6 May 2018 from the Houw Hoek Inn. The route takes you down the historic Katpass, via Beumont and the Wildekrans Winery trails, along the Botriver. Onto the Karwyders tar road, over the Steel bridge and then on single tracks that link the four historic cottages on Bot river farm. At the De Bos damwall you turn right down the Onrust river into the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, along Jan’s beautiful single tracks.
ESTIMATED RIDING TIMES
Winners: 2 hrs for each stage, whilst the "leisure" riders should finish within 4 hrs
