Run The Vines is a series of trail runs that started in March 2015 when the owner of Onsite Events decided to host events that will encourage family and friends, young and old to have a healthy life style by taking part in events that will accommodated all fitness levels.
The fact that the novice runner to the more serious runner can run with family and friends on a different wine farm every month while enjoying the good food, wine, hospitality and live music after their run, surely contributes to the success of the series.
This year runners that pre-enter and pre-pay for all 12 events before the 1st event on the 3th of March 2018 and then run in all 12 events will again receive their 12 bottles of wine (1 from each farm where they ran and finished), after the last run in Feb 2018.
We will again have a bonus (13th) run that participants can use as a substitution run should they not be able to run all 12 runs. Runners are welcome to run all 13 but because of people being sick, having other appointments etc we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt by adding a 13th event to use if they should miss one of the 12. Yes – we are nice people!!
Runners that pre-enter for the series will also receive a T-Shirt to wear to prize giving or at home as part of their series entry. The design will be confirmed soon but it will depict the fact that you entered for all 12 events. This unique shirt will not be for sale to any other runners.
Our 17km distances that was added to the 2017 series seems to be vary popular and we will again have a 17km route at all our events.
Runners can down grade to any distance at any time, but will have to pay the difference should they wish to upgrade.
Other benefits:
- Free entry to festivals that coincide with the Run such as the Ommiberg Festival at Ridgeback, the Waterblommetjie Festival at Windmeul and the Perdeberg October Festival.
- A free invite to the awards dinner after the last event in February 2018. Runners are welcome to bring a guest at an extra cost that will be confirmed before the event.
- 12 Bottles of wine at the awards dinner in February 2018 if you finish all 12 runs.
- A loyalty card that will give you discounts throughout the year at several wine estates, restaurants and other.. These merchants will be confirmed before the start of the series.
Only 100 series entries will be sold!!
Two payment options are available:
Full payment:
5km - R1200
10km - R1500
17km - R1800
Down payments:
Full amount needs to be paid by 25th of February 2017.
5km - R1400
10km - R1700
17km - R2000
NB: If you make use of this option and not pay the full amount before 25 February 2018 you will void the full amount that you already paid.
Normal entries for the series will stay at R80 for the 5km and R100 for the 10km and R130 for the 17km.
The price will only increes if the run is in conjunction with a festival and the hosting farm are charging us extra for the festival.
Timing will be done by Live Time. You can buy a permanent tag for R50 or rent one at each event for R10. Timing chip is compulsory.
Water points will not be the same at all events. It all depends on the route. Please try to be self sufficient with regards to your own hydration.

Summer: 17km - 7:30am, 10km - 8:00am and 5km - 8:15
Winter: 17km - 7:45, 10km – 8:00 and 5km – 8:15
