More than just a trail race, MaxiRace Cape Winelands takes you on a journey, an adventure of self-discovery amongst exquisite & unique landscapes.

MaXi-Race was launched in 2011 in France in Annecy. The race quickly became successful due to their amazing trails with incredible views on the exquisite Annecy lake. It is now a mythical race that welcomes more than 9000 runners each year during the last Week-End of May. This success has convinced the organizers to create MaXi-Race World which is a call to travel and explore. MaXi-Race World now has 6 races among 6 wonderful countries for trail running: France, Sicily, Ecuador, China, Madeira, and of course South Africa.

MaXi-Race Cape Winelands launched the internationally recognised brand of MaXi-Race on the African continent in 2019, and after the success of the inaugural event, the festival of trail running will be an annual event taking place in the iconic Cape Winelands area between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch on 12 December 2020. MaXi-Race is doing its best to be an event that is giving back. Our core values are to be a sustainable race that involves and contributes to the local communities and the environment and to do that we have made a partnership with the charity Edunova. Another example is the Maxi Medals, we choose a local crafter living in rural Kylemore (near Stellenbosch) to make the medals, when we had to pay him we discovered he didn’t even have a bank account.
