Murludi Trail Run
Saturday, 28 May 2022
Murludi Farm, Tulbagh
4km, 13km & 21km
From R130
Equally famed for its hiking trails as it is for its fruit, the picturesque Murludi Farm lies at the foot of the Witzenberg Mountains and boasts diverse indigenous plant life and spectacular views of the Tulbagh Valley, Saronsberg and Winterhoek Mountains.
A short 90 minute drive from Cape Town, the Murludi Trail Run is easily accessible by runners across the Cape Peninsula, Boland and surrounds.
The 4km route takes runners along the orchards and irrigation dam, and gives participants a glimpse into the activities of this working farm. Approx. half of the short route will comprise single track, and a refreshment zone at the 2km mark will allow runners to refresh and re-energise for the final stretch.
Runners tackling the 13km route will follow the same route as the short distance up to the 2km mark, from where they will head south along farm roads before the first climb of the day. Over the next 4km, runners will gain over 400m in elevation. This is a challenging task, but participants will be rewarded with gorgeous farm, valley and mountain views. After the water point, runners will take on 3km of single track as they descend towards water point 3. If you’re lucky, you may be treated to glimpses of the otters, various raptors and guinea fowl that call this section home.
Runners on the 21km will be in for a massive treat this year! The route will follow last years 13km through the orchards and up the single track of the famous Murludi Hiking Trail. With the views of the Groot Winterhoek Mountains still in reach, runners will follow a unique contour path in a northerly direction up the valley for unparalleled fynbos and beauty. These trails will only be accessible during the Murludi Trail Run. Total elevation of the 21km will be approximately 1800m.
The Murludi Trail Run takes place on the same day as the Tulbagh Vintage & Vine Faire, so you can make it a day for the whole family!
- If you have never done a trail run before, please take into account that a trail distance is roughly equal to double the road distance, and comes with additional technical challenges.
- We regret that no dogs are allowed.
