New event, new run, new route! The Thula Moya Trail Run, set on the beautiful Thula Moya farm just outside St Francis Bay, is part of the inaugural Cape St Francis Resort Amanzi Challenge and will take place on Sunday 20 March at 08h00. Distances are 5km (walkers welcome), 10km and 21km however due to the sensitivity of the area, which is a conservation reserve, no dogs are allowed.
Online entries close on Saturday 19 March at 18h00. The 1st 100 online entries to reach us by Monday 14 March will receive a free Amanzi Challenge T-shirt. On the day entries will be possible but a penalty fee will be payable.
The entry fees are:
5km: R50 (on the day R80)
10km: R100 (on the day R150)
21km: R180 (on the day R230).
Number collection and late registration can be done at the Cape St Francis Resort on Saturday between 15h00 and 17h00. Number collection on Sunday is from 07h00 with race briefing at 07h45.
The top 3 runners, male and female, in the 21km will receive prize money. The winners will receive R1 500 each, 2nd place R1 000 and 3rd place R500.
The run starts and finishes at the Dune Ridge Country House’s main gate, an extension of Tarragona Ave, St Francis Bay. The first few kilometers is on grassy jeep track till you reach the first waterpoint, where the 5km runners and walkers will turn around. The 10km and 21km runners will run through coastal thicket before they enter the southern dune field and coastal forest, before the 10km runners will proceed towards the finish line, and the 21km runners still have the second half of their distance left.
There will be waterpoints where possible, but it is advised to be self-sufficient.
