South Africa's ONLY Women's Day swim continues for its 3rd year!
Our Annual Women's Day swim The Simon's Bay Mile returns on Wednesday 9th August 2023. This Women Only swim takes place annually in celebration of Women's Day bringing together Women young and old to share their love of Open Water Swimming and the Ocean. The Simon's Bay Mile swim takes place in the picturesque Simon's Bay in Simon's Town. Simon's Town is a small coastal town situated along the False Bay coastline on the southern part of the Cape Peninsula . Simon's Town is steeped in maritime history and home to many popular tourist attractions including the world famous Boulders Beach with it's Penguins.
The Simon's Bay Mile starts and finishes on the beach at Simon's Town Long Beach. Swimmers complete a 1 Mile / 1609m looped course of Simon's Bay against the backdrop of the Simon's Town mountains and resident South African Navy ships. Swimmers pass by local landmarks including Jubilee Square, the False Bay Yacht club and the South African Navy Dive School. The kelp forests of Simon's Bay offer Swimmers possible glimpses of the resident short tailed Stingrays and small Puffadder shysharks that call this area home.
