  • Pre-entries only. Later entries allowed for the “Lekka Run”.
  • All participants must be able to provide proof of payment upon request.
  • All participants must be able to provide proof of age (ID, Passport, Residency cert).
  • Foreign Athletes are subject to rule WATR4.2 and ASA rule 9, and must be able to provide an ASA clearance permit in order to enter for this event. Foreign athletes in possession of a valid Foreign Athlete License must also take out a Temporary License and shall be entitled to wear club colours and win prizes in an individual capacity.
  • A valid ASA licenses / temporary license is required to participate in any and all of these events.
  • Temporary licenses available at the venue, but no insurance coverage on temporary licenses.
  • Temporary ASA licenses: R70 / license.

All 2-day Quartzite and Granite runners will enjoy:

DECATHLON Quartzite 2-day Run (15km + 32km)

  • Minimum age on race day: 16 years.
  • Pre-entry (before 20 May 2024): R1 300 per entry.
  • No late entries or entries on race day will be accepted.
  • Saturday 25 May 2024. Day 1: 15km Quartzite Run with hill-top finish!
    • 15km: km-effort 21; (WA: XXS); (ITRA: 0); elevation gain: 640m.
    • Starts at Ou-plaas, with a hill-top finish.
    • Transport to start will be provided.
    • Route includes 3.5km tertiary gravel road and 11.5km along built nature trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±15% shaded.
    • Water point at 6km and 9,5km mark.
  • Sunday 26 May 2024. Day 2: 32km Quartzite Run
    • 12km lap + 10km lap + 10km lap.
    • 32km: km-effort 44; (WA: XS); (ITRA: 1); elevation gain: 1210m.
    • Start and finish at main venue.
    • Full distance along natural trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±20% shaded.
    • 1 water point into each lap at 7.8km and at start of new lap.

DECATHLON Granite 2-day Run (11km + 22km)

  • Minimum age on race day: 15 years.
  • Pre-entry (before 20 May 2024): R950 per entry.
  • No late entries or entries on race day will be accepted
  • Saturday 25 May 2024. Day 1: 11km Granite Run with hill-top finish!
    • 11km: km-effort 15; (WA: XXS); (ITRA: 0); elevation gain: 370m.
    • Starts at Ou-plaas, with a hill-top finish.
    • Transport to start will be provided.
    • Route includes 3.5km tertiary gravel road and 7.5km along built nature trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±15% shaded. Water point at 4,8km and 8,5km mark.
  • Sunday 26 May 2024. Day 2: 22km Granite Run
    • 12km lap + 10km lap.
    • 22km: km-effort 30; (WA: XS); (ITRA: 1); elevation gain: 820m.

    • Start and finish at main venue.
    • Full distance along natural trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±20% shaded. 1 water point into each lap at 7.8km and at start of new lap.

DECATHLON 12km "Lekka Run"

  • Minimum age on race day: 14 years.
  • Pre-entry (before 20 May 2024): R200 per entry.
  • Late entry: R250 per entry.
  • Late entries will be accepted on race day.
  • Sunday 26 May 2024. Day 2: 12km "Lekka Run"
    • 430m elevation.
    • Start and finish at main venue.
    • Full distance along natural trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±20% shaded. 1 water point at 7.8km.

Koedoeslaagte Trail Park and Venue, Parys

Route information

The park is nestled in the mountains of the Vredefort Crater UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is 12km from Parys (Free State) on the North West bank of the Vaal River. Since 1972 there has been no formal farming activity and the natural vegetation was restored. Today visitors can enjoy an unspoiled African wilderness on the banks of the Vaal River with miles of purpose-built trails for hiking, trail running, mountain biking and horse riding. Paddlers can enjoy the open waters or navigate between the multiple islands.
