Rooibos MTB
Rooibos MTB is proudly sponsored by Carmien Rooibos Tea.
Rooibos MTB by Carmien is a 1-day Mountain Biking event which will take place on 27 July 2024.
There will be three distances to choose from – 80km, 55km and 30km.
The scenic routes pass over privately owned farms including district roads and are non-technical.
All routes are suitable for mountain-, gravel- and e-bikes.
Please take note that the 80km is recommended for the experienced longer distance riders
18km
The Start and the Finish for the 18km ride is at De Tol Farm Delhi,
Piekenierskloofpass, N7, Citrusdal.
De Tol Farm Delhi is located right on-top of the Piekenierskloofpass, on the N7
and only 8km from Citrusdal.
The Rooibos MTB by Carmien 18km ride is a Cycling South Africa Sanctioned
event.
The 18km ride is a social and untimed ride for family and friends. The scenic
route will initially follow the 30km route before taking a sharp right to the
famous Carmien Tea factory, where the riders will enjoy the only waterpoint,
which is at approximately 8km. The 18km ride promises to be an exciting ride
for all family members 8 years and older. It will be all smiles all the way back to
the Finish at De Tol Farm Delhi where you can enjoy the best farmstall
offerings ever.
Enjoy the spectacular views of the Piekenierskloof and surroundings while
having fun on the 18km ride.
The route is suitable for mountain, gravel or e-bikes.
The route is non- technical and is ideally suited for the beginner/intermediate
rider with a basic level of fitness.

30km
The Start and the Finish for the 30km is at De Tol, Piekenierskloofpass, N7, Citrusdal.
De Tol farmstall is located right on-top of the Piekenierskloofpass, on the N7 and 8km from Citrusdal.
Rooibos MTB by Carmien 30km Race is a Cycling South Africa Sanctioned event.
The 30km route promises to be an exciting challenge with only one waterpoint at 14km. It will be all smiles all the way back to the finish at De Tol where you can enjoy the best farmstall offerings ever.

The route is suitable for mountain, gravel or e-bike.
The route is non- technical and is ideally suited for the beginner/intermediate rider with a basic level of fitness.
Note: Gravel and E-Bikes are more than welcome to enter the 30km Route, but these riders will not qualify for podium or prizes.
55km
The Start and the Finish for the 55km is at De Tol, Piekenierskloofpass, N7, Citrusdal.
De Tol farmstall is located right on-top of the Piekenierskloofpass, on the N7 and 8km from Citrusdal.
Rooibos MTB by Carmien 55km Race is a Cycling South Africa Sanctioned event.
The 55km route promises to be an exciting challenge as the riders will follow the route down the old Piekenierskloof Pass, enjoy the stunning views and proceed on the route at the foot of the Piekenierskloof mountains before finishing with the amazing old Piekenierskloofpass.
There will be two waterpoints, the first at approx 25km and the last one at the bottom of the pass.
You will enjoy the climb back to De Tol where you can enjoy the best farmstall offerings ever.

The route is non-technical and suitable for mountain, gravel or e-bike.
80km
The Start and the Finish for the 80km is at De Tol, Piekenierskloofpass, N7, Citrusdal.
The route initially follows the 55km route – down the old Piekenierskloof Pass proceeding with the amazing fast and scenic 55km route.
Riders of the 80km will compete for the KING and QUEEN of the Mountain which start at the bottom and finish right on top of the old Piekenierskloofpass, before turning left to enjoy the 30km route.
Rooibos MTB by Carmien 80km race is a Cycling South Africa Sanctioned event.
The scenic route passes over privately owned farms, district gravel roads and is non-technical.
There will be 4 water points en-route.
The 80km is recommended for the experienced longer distance riders.
Note: Gravel and E-Bikes are more than welcome to enter the 80km Route, but these riders will not qualify for podium or prizes.
