PLEASE NOTE: SPECTATORS NEED TO PAY R 50.00 ENTRANCE FEE PER PERSON 

Registration is on race day at the race venue from 6:00 am. No pre-registration. For the Open Water Swim event, Athletes need to register only an hour before their event start. 

For all Triathlon and Duathlon events, registration is between 6:00 and 7:15. Please allow time to attend your race briefing 30 minutes before the start of your event.

Online entries will close on Friday, two days before the event at 17:00. On the day, entries will be available but online results for On the day entries might only be available on the Monday after the event. An additional Admin fee will be charged for On day entries.

After online entries have been received, and typically within an hour, a confirmation email will be sent to participants containing details as entered. Please check that you have submitted the correct info in your entry, as the info will be detailed in the confirmation email. (double-check! ).

At registration, participants will receive their chip, T-shirt (if ordered)

8:00 am  Road Triathlon Super Sprint 
8:15 am  Road Standard Triathlon road Duathlon + Teams
8:45 am  Road Sprint Triathlon Road Super Sprint Triathlon. + Teams
9:15 am 3000-meter open water swim.
10:15 am 750-meter open water swim.
11:15 am 1500 meter open water swim.

NO DARK SWIM CAPS ALLOWED


Race Day Information
  • Race Day Registration for at the finishline 
  • Swimmers' Registration is at the same location as Triathletes. Still, swimmers may register only 60 minutes before the start time of their specific event or at pre-registration times as described above.
  • The use of wetsuits will be determined 1 hour before the race starts when the water temperature is measured. At registration, you will receive a Chip and race number. Race numbers should be visible to enable identification for PHOTO purchases after the event. ALSO, FOR VIDEO TIMING IDENTIFICATION. Link and photos will be available on THIS site from Wednesday / to Thursday after the event.
  • Keep your exit band received at registration, which allows you free exit from the venue. Spectators should please purchase their exit band at the venue to exit the venue.
  • ALL Races are non-drafting. Draft rule will apply.
  • Toilets are available below the dam wall, and also ample facilities in the main venue building. 
  • Cradle Moon Lakeside Lodge is a reserve. Please do not litter. NOT DURING BEFORE OR AFTER THE EVENT.
  • Redhub WINNERS Medals on the day will be for event top 3 podium winners Male/Female only. Finishers medals for all.
  • PLEASE WEAR THE ANKLE TIMING CHIP ON YOUR LEFT ANKLE FACING OUT.
  • RED HELMET STICKER MUST BE PLACED ON FRONT of the helmet for Standard Road Triathlon and Duathlon. BLUE sticker on the front of the helmet for SPRINT Triathlon.
  • SWIM CAP MUST BE WORN in any swimming event and must be bright coloured.
  • Sport watches are allowed in all Redhub swim events, triathlons and Open water Swim.
  • Team event (first member) hands over the chip in the transition area to the next member waiting at the bike. Team member must at the exact postion of the bike
  • No set cut-off times. Officials will control access to the transition area.
  • Leave your bags in the transition at your designated spot. Leave under your bike rack not at front wheel postion

Race Briefing Notes

Standard Road Triathlon Duathlon (Road) Standard distance Teams Notes are as follows: 

  • Chip around left ankle facing out.
  • Route colour coding: Follow Colour Arrows / Markers as follows:
  • Duathletes Run1 = Blue. Duathletes Standard distance Cycle = Red. Duathletes Run 2 = Black.
  • Standard Distance  Triathlon, Cycle = Red, Run=Black.
  • Teams  Standard distance: Cycle =Red, Run= Black.
  • NO WATER POINTS ON 40km CYCLE DUE TO MOGALE CITY LITTERING CONCERNS IN THE CRADLE. TAKE ENOUGH WATER. You may use a water point in the transition area.
  • Duathlon/Triathlon Standard distance Start at the same time when the Siren goes.
  • The swim is two laps Anti-Clockwise over the 750-meter course. Keep Buoys on Left shoulder all the way.
  • Wetsuits are allowed or disallowed according to the announcement just after 6:00 am.
  • Triathletes and Duathletes merge into Transition area thru the bottom gate. Into Transition, Sharp left. Find your bike row. Helmet on.Race number on. Exit at the top right gate out of the transition area.
  • Road bikes mount at Mount line and proceed on road towards the main gate. NO DRAFTING RULE APPLIES!
  • (Triathlon and Duathlon): You complete Two laps! Out of transition. Out at Same gate as road riders, Top right of the Transition area. IMMEDIATE sharp right and sharp right again. Mount at Mount line. Follow markers along. You are on the trail straight away. 
  • Road Bikes proceed out of the venue. (Same route as into the venue in the morning when you arrive) . Left on the main road Proceed until you get to the first T junction and turn left. Continue straight past the Sprint Tri turn around point. When you go over a narrow bridge you get to a large traffic circle. (DO NOT TAKE A SHORT CUT BY KEEPING LEFT OUT AT FIRST EXIT!) . Carry straight on BY TAKING the SECOND EXIT OUT.
  • 2Km after Circle you find the Sterkfontein Caves road to the right. You turn right. 2km on the Sterkfontein road you find the turn around point. You make a U-turn.  
  • Same way back to the large Traffic Circle. Again, SECOND EXIT OUT.Straight on past Kloofzicht until you Climb a steep hill to a T junction. Turn left.  Then Left into the venue again.
  • The venue road in is downhill. Watch for signage to slow down close to the transition area. Road Exit is bike run out gametry 
  • Rack your bike. Run out the TOP RIGHT GATE again as you left with your bike. BUT SHAPP RIGHT AND SHARP RIGHT again. ( Same exit route as MTB bikes out of Transition) .
  • Follow the Black arrows for your run. TRIATHLETES RUN TWO LAPS BEFORE YOU ENTER THE FINISH SHOOT. (DUATHLETES RUN ONE LAP ONLY).You have a water point, just as you start your second lap and a second water point 2.5 km into the run each lap.
  • Just after the main entrance the Mountain Bikes(Cross Duathlon) must turn right and must following the red or yellow route markings


Sprint Road Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Road Duathlon. Notes are as follows:

  • Chip around left ankle facing out.
  • Route colour coding: Follow Colour Arrows / Markers as follows:
  • Road Sprint Distance  Triathlon and Road Sprint Duathlon, Cycle = Blue, Run=Black. (1 Lap).
  • NO WATER POINTS ON 20km CYCLE.
  • Race Start for Road Sprint Duathlon, Cross Sprint Triathlon and Team Sprint events. (NOTE: Road together with all other duathlons).
  • The swim is one lap Anti-Clockwise over the 750-meter course. Keep Buoys on the Left shoulder all the way.
  • Wetsuits allowed or disallowed according to the announcement just after 6:00 am.
  • Transition area thru bike/in gametry. Into Transition, Sharp left. Find your bike row. Helmet on.Race number on. Exit at bike run out gametry.
  • All bikes mount at Mount line and proceed on road towards the main gate. NO DRAFTING RULE APPLIES!
  • All Out of transition. Out at the Same gate Top right of the Transition area. IMMEDIATE sharp right and sharp right again. Mount at Mount line. Follow markers along. You are on the trail straight away.
  • Road Bikes proceed out of the venue. (Same route as into the venue in the morning when you arrive) . Left on the main road Proceed until you get to the first T junction and turn left. Continue straight to the Sprint Tri turn around point.   
  • Watch for signage and marshals at the turn. You make a U-turn aprrox 10 km following the blue arrows and follow exactly the same course back to Cradle Moon Lodge.
  • Rack your bike. Run out the TOP RIGHT GATE again as you left with your bike. BUT SHAPP RIGHT AND SHARP RIGHT again. ( Same exit route as MTB bikes left Transition) .
  • Follow the Black arrows for your run to the finish. (run is one lap. A water point is positioned after 2.5 km into the run).


Super Sprint Road Triathlon Notes are as follows:

  • Chip around left ankle facing out.
  • Route colour coding: Follow Colour Arrows / Markers as follows:
  • Road Super Sprint Distance  Triathlon, Cycle = Green, Run=Blue. (1 Lap ).
  • NO WATER POINTS ON 10km CYCLE.
  • The swim is one lap Anti-Clockwise over the 500-meter course. Keep Buoys on the Left shoulder all the way.
  • Wetsuits allowed or disallowed according to the announcement just after 6:00 am.
  • Transition area thru bike/run in gametry. Into Transition, Sharp left. Find your bike row. Helmet on.Race number on. Exit bike/run out gametry in the transition area.
  • Road bikes mount at Mount line and proceed on road towards the main gate. NO DRAFTING RULE APPLIES!
  • Road Cycle proceeds out of the venue. (Same route as into the venue in the morning when you arrive) . Left on the main road Proceed until you get to the first T junction and turn left. Continue straight to the Sprint Tri turn around point.   
  • Watch for signage and marshals at the turn. You make a U-turn, around the traffic circle and follow green arrows back to Cradle Moon Lodge.
  • Rack your bike. Run out the TOP RIGHT GATE again as you left with your bike. BUT SHAPP RIGHT AND SHARP RIGHT again.


Transition Area/Finish Area 

  • Only two gates are used into and out of the Transition area. Bike run in/ Bike run out gametry
  • The schematic below is orientated as you stand behind the transition area facing the water.
  • Registration at Start Finish line.
  • All events run in, swim in and bike in use the bike/ run in gamtry gate closest to the water.
  • All events out use the bike/ run out gamtry.  (furthest from the water).
  • All Bike out follow the paved road out of the venue , same route as you travel in in the morning.
  • Notice the flow (arrows) as you athletes move through the transition area.




Route Maps
Swim
The Triathlon Swim Course is anti-clockwise two laps of 750 meters for the Standard Triathlon Road Event.. A Shorter Lap of 400 Meters will be used for the Super Sprint event.

The 750-meter open water swim is one lap of the 750-meter course.
The 1500-meter open water  Swim Course is anti-Clockwise, 2 laps as above. The 3000 meter open water swim is anti-clockwise , 4 laps of the course below.


20 Km Sprint Road Cycle
Out and back route. Out the main gate at Cradle Moon Lodge. Left on the main road and continue to the T junction (Traffic Circle) . Left till the turn around and follow the same route back. See profile below. Follow Blue route markers.

10 Km Super Sprint Road Cycle
Out and back route. Out the main gate at Cradle Moon Lodge. Left on the main road and continue to the T junction (Traffic Circle) . Around the Traffic Circle at the T junction and back to Cradle Moon Lodge. Follow the green arrows.

40 Km Standard Road Cycle
Out the main gate at Cradle Moon Lodge. Left on the main road and continue to the T junction (Traffic Circle) . Left and continue on this road until you pass the Lion Rhino Park on the right. Over a narrow bridge and then over a  large traffic circle. (in at 6 o clock and second exit out at 12 o clock) . About another 4 km before you turn right towards the Sterkfontein caves. 2km down this road you find turn around signage with a Think Bike  Marshall present. You will turn around, follow the same route back to the the same large traffic circle. Again you will exit at the second exit. follow straight on past Bidon Bistro and Kloofzicht. Climb a fairly steep hill to a T junction . Turn left and  continue until you turn left into Cradle Moon Lodge. You follow Red0. Route markers. along the way.
