We are excited to host this unique challenge for the first time in the Free State, South Africa!!!
The Farmyard ultra is a form of ultra run or mountain bike race where competitors must consecutively run the distance of 6705m (6.705km)/ 13400 (13.4km) meters in less than one hour. When each lap is completed, the remaining time within the hour is typically used to recover for the next hour's race.Comment: Rules for the Farmyard Ultra1) Course:
TRAILRUN 6705m / 6.705km MTB 13400m / 13.4km
2) Starting Corral. Measured to fit entire starting field. Corral stays the same size thru out the event. Participants must be in the starting corral at the bell3) Starts. Each loop starts precisely 1 hour after the last. Warning must be given 3, 2, and 1 minutes prior to start. All competitors must start at the bell (no late starts)4) Loops. Except for restrooms, competitor may not leave the course until each loop is completed. No non-competitors on the course (including eliminated bikers/runner) excluding riders/runners who will be riding or running the fun ride/run – they will be allowed to do 2 rounds consecutively.. No personal aid during a loop (common aid stations are allowed). Each loop must be completed within an hour to be counted… including the final lap.. No artificial aids. Slower Runners or riders must allow passes.5) Timing. Timing of the loops won’t be done by Aktief – objective is to find the last person standing!6) Winner/Results. The winner is the last person to complete a loop/ toe the start line!. All others are technically DNF. Results of each rider in terms of distance covered are to be given.. If no rider can complete one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner.7) Cap. Race is open ended
This Race only ends when there is only 1 Person Standing – Man or lady, Rider of Runner
1 Final SOLO loop need to be completed - to be Crowned the Last Person Standing.
Saturday we will have a fun run/ride at 8:00 for supporters - 1 or 2 laps - R100
What to wear
• Dress in performance gear (not cotton).
• Think compression bottoms and breathable tops made from water wicking material.
• Wear comfortable shoes that you’ve trained in, but beware, they are going to get dirty.

| Route information | Middelwater Farm is situated just off the N1 on the R30 Brandfort Road (GPS coordinates, -28.914278, 26.326005), approximately 30km outside of Bloemfontein. Jacques and Marica Strydom bought the farm in November 2017, with the vision of sharing this farm and farm life with Bloemfonteiners and people passing by. |
