Welcome to this two night, three day catered event in the beautiful surrounds of Hoekwil!
The weekend consists of 2 nights at the breathtaking Mountain Magic facility in Hoekwil and 3 Day hikes on the consecutive days;

Day 1) Map of Africa 10km Hike

Day 2) Half Collared Kingfisher 8km Hike and 

Day 3) Woodville Big Tree 8km Hike

DAY 1: FRIDAY (Map of Africa, 10km Hike):

The Map of Africa is a spectacular scene of mountains and forests. The Wilderness area is known for it’s vast number of rivers, lagoons and natural lakes, and here you get a clear view of the Kaaimans River Valley. It is amazing how the course of the Kaaimans River has the shape of the African continent. What a beautiful sight!

High up in the hills of Wilderness, along the famed Garden Route, lies the Map of Africa. A spectacular viewpoint offering a unique sight - quite literally a Map of Africa. Over the years, as the Kaaimans River has flown through the lush landscape it has created a distinct shape of the outline of Africa, and from a certain viewpoint, you can clearly see this mesmerising wonder. Amidst the trees and thick greenery, this tranquil and spectacular stop is the perfect Insta-worthy moment and is sure to bring you real close to Mother Earth. You'll also be able to admire the sweeping views over Wilderness and the paragliders flying overhead as the launch site is nearby. A beauty to behold.

The map of Africa Hike is a 10km scenic circuit route with 230m elevation, starting at the Peron. After winding past a few local shops and Restaurants, heads up with White's Road along the Touws River. Beautiful views of the ocean awaits before the road takes us in a huge anti clockwise circle towards Remskoen Road, which leads to the Map lookout point. From there we return to the starting point for an optional tea time/lunch.

Check in is around 14:00 at Mountain Magic in Hoekwil. (A list of everything you'll need will be supplied when you enquire to enter for the adventure weekend).

18:30 Dinner (Artisan Lasagne& Salad from At Earth Foods)

DAY 2: SATURDAY (Half Collared Kingfisher, 8km Hike Out&back):

An immense wall of green punctured only by a human sized opening welcomes walkers into this cathedral of mature forest. The most popular trail in the Wilderness region it has many picnic points and lays nestled not more than 15 meters from the riverbank and may be accessed by canoe or foot, both promising a unique experience of this exquisite ecosystem.

The Half-collared crosses the Touw River by means of a pontoon to join the Giant Kingfisher trail. Trees are appropriately numbered to facilitate tree spotters in finding their favourite trees. Mostly shaded by ancient giant trees, walkers can relax as they walk comfortably on the trail to its heart boasting a magnificent waterfall where, again, picnics may be had.

Many birds especially the well-known Half-collared and Giant Kingfisher, Knysna Turaco, Fish Eagle and Black-headed Oriole may be seen. Bushbuck is also known to make graceful appearances stunning walkers with their beauty.

6:30am: Coffee/Tea & Rusks breakfast

7:15am Depart with common transport to the Start of the Kingfisher Hike

DAY 3: SUNDAY (Woodville Big Tree, 8km Hike)

A pleasant walk out of the Forest and up the side of the hill, with vistas over Hoekwil and beyond to the sea, before descending again into the

cool of the forest. The table and

benches on the top open area are ideally placed, where we will pause for snacks and to enjoy the views!

7:00am: Coffee/Tea & Scrumptious Gourmet Farm breakfast

8:30am Check out & depart with own transport

8:45 Meet up at the parking area (SANPARKS FEES ARE INCLUSIVE)
