When riding the Parys Road Outride, use a GPS device with our provided gpx files to stay on track. While we provide designated groups to ride in, it is ALWAYS recommended to have the route on your GPS device.

RIDER SAFETY

Safety is one of our biggest concerns when we think cycling in South Africa, whether it be on tar or dirt roads. The amazing Think Bike Marshals will be on hand to assist with traffic control and do their best to ensure your safety is priority along the route.

With the Think Bike Marshals we have consistently been in good hands on every event and are confident we can achieve this at every event ahead.

Group Dynamics

– This is not a race!
– Everyone MUST stay together as a group – this is a “no-drop” ride.
– Should you feel the need to ride ahead of the group, you are accepting that you no longer want to be a part of the group.
– Anyone riding ahead will not receive any marshal assistance.
– Ensure when entering a group that you can ride the advertised speed.
– The Group Leader will ensure the group rides at the correct speed. Respect their instructions to speed up or slow down.
– Ride smart.
– There is a minimum speed enforced and cut off at the lunch stop, water point 3 and water point 4. If you do not make it in the cut-off time, you will be asked to load you into the support vehicle and you will be taken to the finish in the vehicle.
* We cannot allow leniency on cut-of times as the bus and bicycle trailer must be loaded in Parys asap to get everyone back to Irene.

Rider Cut-off Times:

Drake Events Management has the right to ask anyone to get into the support vehicles along the route, should they feel that the rider is not keeping up with the pace. Should you be asked to load into a vehicle, the decision has been made with your safety in mind, as well as the experience of all the riders.

FINISH VENUE

Stonehenge River Lodge

A River Side Lodge, Conference, Wedding and Teambuilding Venue outside Parys on the banks of the Vaal River situated in the Vredefort World Heritage Site. A mere 110 Kilometers from Johannesburg, attracts the corporate market with its unique setting, accessibility and modern facilities. As Guests enter Stonehenge, they are greeted by large replication of the celebrated Stonehenge Monument and throughout the complex natural, strategically placed granite plinths reinforce the African Ambience.

Stonehenge River Lodge offer a wide range of accommodation to choose from and can accommodate 130 delegates sharing. An ideal getaway for the entire family. Stonehenge in Africa embodies peace, tranquility and a sense of oneness with nature. The venue boasts a level of comfort and will satisfy company directors, as well as staff, for the full duration of their stay.

Book a room to stay over at Stonehenge for the weekend. Bookings are subject to confirmation and will work on a first come first serve basis.

All post ride meals need to be ordered ahead of the event date, so be sure to include this on your entry form.

Shuttle

If you’ve booked a shuttle back from Parys, drop off your bike at the bicycle trailers, provided by BCycle Transport. Relax, unwind and talk about memories made, whilst we load bicycles.

We will have various 21-seater shuttles available. As riders will be finishing at various times, we’ll aim to send off a shuttle and trailer as soon as we can, to avoid long waits. However, the last shuttle/s will only leave once the last riders have finished their ride.

The estimated times for the shuttles departing is 15H30, 16H30 and 17H30, but is subject to change pending riders finishing times and loading of bicycles.

Bicycle Transport

We will load your bicycle safely and securely onto the BCycle Bicycle Transport Trailer. When you arrive back at the start venue, your bicycle will be offloaded for you to take home.
