🌙 Light of Hope Fundraiser – 12-Hour Night Run/Walk

I am. You are. We are the Light of Hope.

Light of Hope is a 12-hour night-long community race under the stars of Mossel Bay. From sunset to sunrise, walkers, fun runners, and competitive athletes will light up the town together with headlamps, glowsticks, and fairy lights. 

So...bring the whole family, grandma, your uncle, the neighbourhood watch, your church and school to join us for a life-changing night of celebrating Hope!   

Why are we doing this?
Because in the darkest times, we choose to be the light. To stand together. To step forward and make a difference. Light of Hope is more than an event—it’s a commitment to our community. Every step you take helps raise funds for children in need across the Garden Route, bringing hope where it’s needed most.

This event is for everyone:
✨ Do one or two laps (5 km each) for fun at sundown, midnight, or sunrise.
✨ Team up in pairs or fours for a relay challenge.
✨ Or push your limits solo to see how many loops you can complete in 12 hours.

Event Highlights

• 5 km loop through Mossel Bay’s most iconic landmarks, including the coastal walkway to Delfino’s.

• Route fully lit with fairy lights and festive atmosphere.

• Start/Finish & Race Village at Santos Beach, with food stalls, music, and entertainment open all night.

• Special prize for best dressed in lights 💡.

• Opening ceremony with a symbolic torch lit by the Mayor, carried hourly by community leaders.

Format

• Race type: Run or walk along the iconic spots in Mossel Bay

• Time limit: 12 hours (Race start at: 18:50, 10 Oct – 06:50, 11 Oct)

  • Race start: 18:50, 10 Oct

  • Final Lap cutoff: 06:50, 11 Oct

• Options:

  • Fun walk/run for kids and adults of all ages (Strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers are welcome)
    

• Athletes:

  • Individual entries (18 years and older)

  • Relay teams of 2 (18 years and older) - ALL RELAY TEAM MEMBERS REQUIRE AN ASA LICENCE

  • Relay teams of 4 (18 years and older) - ALL RELAY TEAM MEMBERS REQUIRE AN ASA LICENCE

  • Add additional temporary day licenses (one per team member) using the merchandise option during the payment process.

Finishers’ Medal:
All online entries for participants aged 7 and older, completed before 1 October, will receive an exclusive Light of Hope finisher’s medal.

Best-Dressed Light Bearer:
Show off your creativity and shine bright! There’s a prize for the Best-Dressed Light Bearer. The winner will be announced at 10:00 PM on 10 October at the race village.
