Herbertsdale is a historic settlement located in the Langtou Valley. A beautiful rural environment with historic buildings, farmhouses and scenic landscapes near the Langeberg Mountains. The village was established in 1865 on the farm Hemelrood and named after James Benton Herbert, who owned a portion of the farm.

The Ou Skooltjie Padstal is Herbertsdale’s very first school, built in 1903, lovingly restored into a charming farm stall where tradition and taste come together. 

We’ll be paying them a visit after the hike for their delicious jams, fresh coffee, and amazing selection of cakes.
