RUN (OR WALK!) OUR WONDERFUL VINES AND DISCOVER NEW PLACES… AT YOUR OWN PACE!

Run the Vines is a vibrant trail running series created by Onsite Events, bringing runners and walkers to some of the most beautiful wine farms across the Drakenstein, Breeriver, Worcester and Boland regions.

Inspired by the stunning landscapes of Paarl, Lans from Onsite Events launched the very first Run the Vines event in 2015 in partnership with the Paarl Wine Route in 2015– and the adventure hasn’t stopped since!

The magic of the series lies in its simplicity: people of all fitness levels, from first-timers to seasoned runners, get to explore a new wine farm every month. Add great food, wine, live music and warm hospitality, and it’s easy to see why thousands have joined the journey over the years.

Trail running is rewarding in two ways. First, it takes you into hidden natural places you’d never experience otherwise – including private farms usually closed to the public. Second, it helps you build a healthier lifestyle at a pace that suits you. If you can’t run, walk. If you need to slow down, do it. The goal is to finish smiling.

Need to Know

• Open to everyone – all fitness levels welcome.

• No cut-off times on the 5km and 10km.

• Distances: 5km / 10km / 17km

• 5km & 10km may be walked.

• 3km kids run for under 8s (accompanied by an adult).

• Kids under 12 run free.

• All events can be entered individually.

• Series entries limited to 50 runners.

• The 2026 series include 13 events.

• You must complete 12 of the 13 events to qualify for your wine at the end of the year.

• You may downgrade distances anytime.

• You may upgrade distances by paying the difference.

5km Run/Walk - R3 100    

10km Run/Walk - R3 500    

17km - R3 800 Only a run. (You cannot walk the 17km. We will have a cut off for the long distance. Please go to each event individually to see what the cut-off time for that specific event will be.)

All events will be timed with Bouttime and your permanent tag is included in the entry. 

Water points will not be the same at all events. It all depends on the route. 

Please try to be self-sufficient with regards to your own hydration even if you do the shorter distances. 

Starting times for events:

Summer: 17km - 7:15, 10km - 7:45 and 5km -  8:00

Winter: 17km - 8:00, 10km – 8:30 and 5km – 8:45

WHATS NEW IN 2026?

• The Run The Vines 3 day stage race  -  24 tot 26 April. Spice Route. Monday the 27th is a public holiday so you can rest after the lekker weekend!! 
• Run The Vines Mini 6 Series - Kleine Vallei, Laborie, Perdeberg, Windmeul in conjunction with Waterblommetjie Festival, Diemersfontein. Dates to be confirmed.
• The Bains Marathon and Trail Run. Date to be confirmed.

NB!!! T's and C's  -  We will try to stay to the dates and venues as per the calendar. Because we deal with working farms some changes might take place. If this happens you will be notified in time.
