Herold Rock Art Discovery is a guided route through the rugged Herold landscape, linking two significant rock art sites created by San communities who lived, travelled, and found meaning in this area over thousands of years. Beginning at Herold Wine Farm and ascending to Breakfast Rock where we will pause for refreshments and to take in the 360° view and then further toward Dizzy Heights and down to the Kaaimans to disvover the first San art for the day. We return via Dizzy Heights towards the second site further down towards Herold Wine farm. The route invites hikers to slow down and observe the land as the San once did—reading stories, symbols, and spiritual expressions carefully placed on stone. These artworks are fragile cultural records, offering insight into an ancient way of life deeply connected to nature. Visitors are encouraged to move with respect, leave no trace, and experience the route not only as a hike, but as a quiet encounter with living heritage.
