MONTAGU GRAVEL & GRIT FESTIVAL 2025 

MONTAGU has it all in terms of outdoor activities, the gateway to the Klein Karoo and also it is here where the Klein Karoo Gravel Corridor starts.  

This makes Montagu the heartbeat of outdoor adventures.

Makadas Adventures in cooperation with MATA (Montagu Ashton Tourism), Patti van Dyk & Glen Eden Guest Farm brings you a fun filled weekend in the great outdoors.  Gravel cycling, Mountain biking, Sunset Hike and Trail Running are some of the activities of the weekend.

Then there are activities for the kiddies, lots to drink and eat. Saturday night party with  Prize giving.

Sunset Hike Walk

Start the weekend on the right foot with a sunset walk with views over the Langeberge while the sun is setting, bring a headlamp and walk into the dark on a trail with reflective markings. This walk is suitable for young and old and meant to get you into the weekend vibe. Food and drink will be on sale afterwards

67km Fun MTB Event

The 67km Mountain bike fun ride, new exciting sections added to last year's 55km

106km MTB Race

ROUTE CHANGE:  Direction change, more jeep track added to the existing route and exciting new sections added. The route for the 106km event traverses the stunning Africa Game Lodge and you will be spoiled to magnificent views and many different types of game: Eland, Kudu, Gemsbuck, Giraffe etc.  This route consists of multiple types of terrain. 

140km Gravel Race

NEW Gravel Road start to avoid congestion. This route had some minor changes and with the help from the riders from SALT and SQUIRT we were able fine tune it to make it more feasible for gravel bikes.  See route bread down on the Makadas website. Total climb:  1996 m

Kapokbos Trail & Fun Run

Eriocephalus africanus L./Wild Rosemary or Kapbokbos the name was chosen for this very special shrub that grows where the run is held and you will recognize it by its sweet vanilla smell.

Terrain: hilly single track with magnificent views of the Langeberg mountain range.  This is the first time that an event is held here on Glen Eden and Rietvlei Holiday farm and you will wonder why, as the trails have existed for +/- 20 years.  The event is set on stunning trails with magnificent views and scenery. The event is organized by Patti van Dyk, a nature guide of the profession and an experienced ultra runner, with big event names such as Comrades and Two Oceans behind her name.  Patti has also tapped into trail running since a few years ago.  Patti's passions in life include nature and living a healthy lifestyle.   Medals to all Finishers!
